How to Measure Your Area

Measure Length & Width
Use a tape measure to get the length and width of each area in feet. For irregular shapes, break them into rectangles.

Choose Your Depth
Mulch: 2–4 inches. Topsoil: 4–6 inches for new beds, 2–3 inches for topdressing. Aggregate: 4–6 inches for driveways.
